Some of you may know the name already. Andrew Powell was competing in the Ironman 70.3 New Orleans in 2014. Two days before the race, during a short training ride, Andrew and his brother were struck by a car traveling at over 70 mph. His brother-in-law was fatally injured instantly and Andrew’s injuries included a broken back in 3 places as well as a broken foot and hip. As a result, Andrew was paralyzed from the waist down…but that hasn’t stopped him.
Our Honorary Team Members are so important to us. They start out as very special people, then they combine their own strength, drive, determination and continue to inspire others. They are the heart and soul of 3TSports because they pay forward the kindness of others and constantly remind us that all of us can do more, better, than the day before. We are so proud to have them as part of the family.
Today was an amazing day. Got to meet the entire Hutto family Jon Hutto and The Star of the show, Hayes from Hayes's Walk. Thanks to everyone who showed up to support our efforts. Bill Halstead pulled off a 3rd place finish with Scott Haley, Kevin Condon, Kevin Baxter, and Stacy Hughes Halstead finishing minutes after. We also had our teammate Meghan Roberts volunteering, handing out medals.
Our heartfelt appreciation to everyone who gave. Hayes' bike should arrive in about three weeks from McLindon Family Foundation. We will certainly share the delivery with all of you along with periodic updates...watching Hayes rip up the streets in his new special bicycle.
We're all a team. And we're all making a difference. Bless all of you.
